Pre-Reading for Your Appointment
What to Expect from a Reading?
Truly starts her reading with a prayer to ground herself then utilizes your energy within the room to connect with 1. People who’ve crossed over; 2. Angels, and 3. Spirit guides. These 3 sources can bring forward information about both your past and your future. Many times Truly simply confirms what people already know about their relationships, career and loved ones. Sometimes her work is simply to give someone closure when they have lost a loved one. A reading can help give you insights into other people, enabling you to better handle your personal and professional relationships. Truly's specialty is more on the "Medium" side (connection those with loves ones) than on the "Psychic" side which resides more with future forecast information. All those attending a reading should be prepared and not "surprised" or "gifted" the reading. People who are "surprised" by a reading often have the reading fail which is why we do not permit this. You will understand better as you read through the material below.
How Do I Prepare for a Reading?
The first thing to realize is that the responsibility for a successful visit rests as much with you as with the Medium. If you are visiting for a problem then it is obvious that you will have to co-operate the same way you would with a doctor or therapist. Keep an open mind and open yourself up to whatever happens. If you hear something that doesn't make sense to you file it way for later review. If you set up barriers of resistance during your reading due to skepticism, doubt, or negativity this may make it hard or even impossible to be read. We make mistakes just like anyone does, but if you focus on what seems wrong rather than what seems right, you may miss something important. If you are looking to connect with someone who has passed away, start thinking of them a few days before your appointment. Truly works with guides to bring loved ones forward, but just as in life, they can choose not to come or may not be available. Being Nervous, Anxious or Concerned About your Upcoming Reading
It's not uncommon to be nervous or anxious about your upcoming reading. One of Truly's most common forms of feedback is how compassionate, understanding and related she is. Truly not only carries personal experiences of losing close loved ones, but she also has extensive experience in counselling people in these situations. Her extensive education and hands on experience of becoming a Spiritual minister only further substantiates her qualifications. Secondly if you are concerned about information that may come forward remember knowledge and awareness is power and you have the capability to change or modify your future. Even after Truly has forecasted future based information for you things are never set in stone.
Who Does Truly Connect with to Receive Information?
Angels - We all have angels around us. The angels that Truly connects with are with you for a specific purpose. Angels have never touched the earth, have never had a human incarnation, so therefore will not be someone you have lost. Angels are from another plane in the universe. They are sent to us by a higher power (God, Buddha, Ali, etc). Angels have trouble understanding the concepts of Time, Space and Emotion.
Spirit Guides - We all have spirit guides around us at all times. Before we are born, while in heaven or the universe, we would ask a friend to come and support us on our next journey. We pick that friend specifically because they have some knowledge, information or expertise on at least one of the lessons we've chosen to learn while living through this life. Most people have had a run in with their spirit guides, and just don’t recognize it. We call it intuition, gut feeling or it’s the moment where the hairs on your body stand on end. When this happens it is your guides trying to get your attention. The more you listen to them the more you’ll be on your life path.
People who have Passed Away - Family, friends and loved ones who have passed come often to visit us. Truly describes them to the best of her ability. When Truly connects she is given how the person passed away, personality traits the person is known for, and sometimes a shared memory between the two of you. Spirits rarely come through with a formal greeting like "Hi, I'm Joe, David's Dad", therefore please be prepared to play detective to find out who has joined us in your reading. The form of communication can be through voice contact or more often through symbols. If you do not immediately recognize the spirit that has come forward to visit, please don’t dismiss it right away. Unfortunately, more often than not she receives a phone call or an email 2 or 3 days later from a client who now recognizes the person that came to visit, and wants to know what they wanted to say. Know Your Family History
Knowing your family history in advance of your reading can help immensely. When seeking to connect with people who've crossed over it's not set who can come forward. It can be parents, grandparents, great grandparents, uncles, aunts, great uncles and aunts etc. It's not uncommon for a client to go home speak to their extended family and then find validation towards the reading they had after speaking with others. Advanced knowledge of your family tree can greatly improve the comprehension of your reading. We've often seen people come in looking to speak with someone specific and other family members come in instead. Because they wanted to connect with someone specific they did not familiarize themselves with the rest of their family and thus it becomes harder for the client to validate information.
Recent Deaths
If you wish to connect with someone specific who recently passed away we recommend you wait 6 to 12 months before an appointment. The probability of connecting with someone who's recently crossed over is not as probable as when sufficient time has passed. Can Truly Read Everyone?
A Medium is almost like a telephone line to the other side. They have no control as to who comes forward, what is said or how it’s said. They literally are just a communication channel. With that in mind it’s not reasonable for Truly, or any other Medium, to say they can guarantee they can reading everyone for the following reasons:
#1 A medium has no control over who comes forward. There’s as much free will on the other side as there is here and a Medium cannot force specific people to come forward.
#2 In some cases the person who’s crossed over is in “limbo” and is half way between earth and the other side. In cases like this the spirit is not concerned with communicating for your benefit, but rather trying to find their way to get where they need to be, or simply are not able to communicate as of yet.
#3 Lastly in some cases the ownership is on the person being read and how “open” they are. Occasionally people feel obligated to see a Medium, but due to personal beliefs don’t feel it’s going to work. Or have told someone of great importance in their life they are coming to see a Medium and that person is not happy about the appointment. This creates a “block” for the Medium often making it extremely difficult or impossible to read. Consider it like trying to accurately communicate through a bad connection.
Are Sessions Recorded?
Truly does not record sessions, but you as the client are more than welcome to record on your own behalf. You may also wish to bring a notepad and pen to take notes during your session.
Can I Bring my Child to the Reading?
We do ask that you find alternative arrangements for childcare. One of the strongest measures for success in a reading is uninterrupted and dedicated focus, both by the client and by the Medium. Additionally it's unknown who will come forward and what information will be shared. Truly's policy is to share that information regardless of it's content and in some cases it may not be appropriate with a minor around.
Use of Alcohol and/or Drugs
Alcohol and/or drug consumption is NOT permitted before or during your reading. Truly reserves the right to refuse service and terminate the reading or group session if she feels people are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The use of these substances negatively influences the quality of your reading making it difficult and in some cases impossible to be read. Your awareness and alertness is pivotal for communication and connection purposes with a Medium. Truly reserves the right to not reschedule with clients who do not comply with this requirement.
Location
ILUM Studio is located at Shop #2 at 88 Kent Street West in Lindsay, Ontario. Please follow the walkway between Benjamin Moore's and Ward's Lawyers until you see signs for ILUM Studio / Truly Medium. Parking is available in the public parking lot behind the building off of Peel street. It is free for 4 hours, Monday to Friday. Parking is also available on Kent Street, but is limited to 2 hours of free parking. Additionally Truly uses an essential oil diffuser, and burns incense/herbs to clear the energy within the studio, so if you have allergies please be advised and take action as required by your allergy conditions as it relates to this environment. If you are coming with someone else for back to back readings please note there is no separate waiting area which will permit privacy and confidentiality. Our recommendation for those that come for back to back sessions is that while one is read the other visit local shops.
Cancellation Policy
We request a minimum of 72 hours’ notice for cancellation. Reschedules requested with less than 72 hours of an appointment may be rescheduled at Truly’s discretion, however, pre-payment may be required and at more current pricing and service options. Please recognize that Truly has 3 very young children and your appointment needs to be coordinated and arranged with childcare. Truly reserves the right to not permit rescheduling or future bookings at her discretion and may do so with no shows.
What’s the Difference Between a Psychic and a Medium?
The terms psychic and medium are often used by society somewhat interchangeably to describe people who are intuitive and who use divination practices or communications with spirit, angels and guides. However, there are clear differences between these two terms.
Psychics ~ A psychic works at an instinctive or an intuitive level to gather information hidden from the normal senses via a "sixth sense" or extrasensory perception.
Mediums ~ A medium has the ability to connect with the people who have passed away. They become a channel, or essentially a telephone line between earth and the after life to pass along messages. A medium may by psychic, but a psychic may not be a medium.

How Do I Use Information Received from My Reading?
What you do with the information is clearly a very personal thing, and it will probably involve more than one aspect of your life. Very often, simply getting an objective view on a situation will assist you to make more informed choices. Personal power doesn’t come from trying to change reality but rather learning how to accept it. The degree to which we perceive the world depends upon the way in which we experience it. When we react to a situation, we put ourselves in a position of opposition to it and often do so before we have even realized what it is we are reacting to. A response, on the other hand, comes from a position of power – We respond to a situation after we consider precisely what the appropriate response should be.
Knowledge is Power
When a Medium reads for a client future based knowledge is presented and that knowledge is based on your current course of actions and is subject to change by you taking that knowledge and altering your life path. For example if during your reading it was identified that you were likely to be in a car accident in the near future your natural instincts may make you more alert and cautious while driving and thus alter the likelihood of that accident from actually happening. Your future is rarely set in stone and you are in control of your life and capable of retaining or altering your life path.
Time (Spirit World vs Earth)
Time in the spirit world is not like that here on earth. Information that comes from spirit may contain a direction of time for events here on earth. It’s important to note that this is one of the more difficult pieces of information for a Medium to convey. Sometimes a number may come forward such as “5” in reference to time. Five can be interpreted for days, weeks, months or years. It’s important to recognize and understand this. Please keep this in mind if your reading has future based predictions that have a time dependency.
Questions from Your Reading
We strongly encourage you to ask all your questions during your session with Truly for several reasons. Sessions with Truly are longer than most Mediums and Psychics with the purpose to draw out and answer questions during your session. Answers to your questions often require "connection to spirit" and your presence and connection is often key to flushing out answers. After you session has concluded Truly may not be able to drive out answers to additional questions. Additionally due to the number of clients Truly sees she often can't recall the details of past readings. If you do have general post reading questions (i.e. info on a spirit guide) directly for Truly please permit a minimum of 2 weeks for a reply due to her heavy work schedule.
How Soon Can I Do a Re-visit?
Typically Truly recommends 6-12 months before a re-visit to ensure enough time has elapsed for growth and change to develop since your last reading. In some cases Truly will permit re-visits in less than 6 months if a client has had substantial change take place in their lives. It is up to the client, but Truly does provide these recommendations to ensure people get qualitative and informative readings.
How Do I Pick a Good Medium or Psychic?
In short our recommendation is to always go with who you are drawn to. Your initial intuition is often your higher self speaking which is the best direction regardless of ones prices, availability or referrals. That may mean you choose a competitor and we are content with that. Our preference is always for you to gain the best possible experience and no single Medium or Psychic can read everyone. Proof of continuous education is also key. Any Psychic or Medium can express extensive years of experience, but if they've been practicing all those years in their own little box with their gift then they haven't expanded beyond their original known capability. There are plenty of workshops, seminars and classes out there for everyone to grow and expand their capabilities and a medium or psychic can only take you as far as they've taken themselves.
