Dreams: This is not only the easiest way for spirit to communicate, but probably the most comforting. When we are in the dream state, our Ego (the part of the brain that dissects everything) is not awake. To us, our loved ones are as present and real as they were in the physical. The 1st dream of a person who has died is usually to tell us they are alright and finding their way. Any dream after that is usually to help us along our path or to visit when we need their support or guidance.
Feeling or Sensing a Presence: When you are alone, but you know or feel like you aren’t. Sometimes you may feel a hand on your shoulder or head, or you may have the small hairs on your arm or neck stand on end. Some people have even been hugged or kissed on the cheek.
Hearing a Voice: When you hear your name called, but no one else is around. This can sometimes happen while driving, most commonly you will hear ‘stop’ or ‘slow down’. This is real, but people think they have imagined it or that it’s just their memories.
Smelling Something Out of the Ordinary: Smelling the cologne or perfume of a loved one is quite common after their passing. Often people will smell the deceased’s favourite kind flowers or the smell of the same kind of cigarette or pipe smoke the deceased used. Just another way for them to let us know they are present.
Orbs: These look like Large Soap bubbles or what photographer’s backscatter. The usually appear as either white or semi-transparent circles, though may also occur with whole or partial colour spectrums. Sometimes you can see a face inside. This is the closest natural physical state of the deceased.
Butterflies, Dragonflies, & Lady Bugs: Small insects like these are messengers in their own right. Lost loved ones can whisper in insects’ ears to come visit us to bring a smile to our faces. They carry the message of hope not only from themselves, but also from our dearly departed.
Birds & Small Animals: Bigger messengers can carry specific meaning from a departed loved one. Each one can carry their own meaning. When you are getting messages from animals, think about what they represent or what kind of life they lead. For more definitions on animals look for the book:
Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small Paperback – September, 2002 by Ted Andrews
Electronic Malfunctions: TV’s, Radio’s, Telephones, Lights, Children’s Toys. These are all things that spirit can and will turn on and off to get your attention. Because these things only work when there is energy, it is easy for spirit to manipulate the energy. Once our dearly departed figure out how to do this, they typically do it on a regular basis to let us know they are around.
Keys & Glasses: The great disappearing act. Spirit will often move these items not only to let you know they are around, but to also slow you down. They often do this to prevent us from being at a certain place in a certain time. When you find this has happened, ask them nicely to show you where your missing item is. They usually respond within a few hours.
Coins, Bobby Pins & Safety Pins: Small metal objects are easily spotted because of their sheen, but can also be easier to move because they don’t weigh much. You will find these items in unusual places. For example on top of the fridge, bathroom mirror, under foot or under a bed. They are placed strategically so you will find them & think of your loved one.
Pictures & Mirrors: The dead love pictures, especially of themselves. They will shift them or move them. If hanging on the wall they will be tilted so they are crooked, and if they are sitting on a table or shelf the will be angled in a different direction. This is also an easy way for them to let us know they are around still keeping an eye on things.
Our Loved Ones will do whatever they can to pass on messages to us. They aren’t always in a place that they can communicate, but when they can they will. The more you acknowledge their presence the more they will communicate with you. As I’ve always said, keep talking to them like they never left, because they didn’t.
Love & Light,
Truly
